The Tampa Bay Rays (13-14) defeated the San Diego Padres (17-10) 4-1 on Saturday night to win their fourth straight game. The Rays have now also won both series on their West Coast trip through Arizona and San Diego.
The Rays got two runs in the third, thanks in part to a homer from Brandon Lowe. They added single runs in the fifth and ninth to account for their offense. Ryan Pepiot (2-3, 4.24) allowed one earned runs on three hits in six innings of work in which he struck out three and walked two. Pete Fairbanks picked up his fifth fave after working a scoreless ninth.
The Rays will now try to sweep the Padres coming up on Sunday. First pitch Sunday is scheduled for 4:10 PM - pregame coverage begins with Chris Adams-Wall hosting This Week in Rays Baseball at 2:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620 your Home of Rays Baseball.
