Rays Open Series With Blowout Win Over Red Sox

The Tampa Bay Rays (8-8) blew out the Boston Red Sox (8-10) 16-1 on Monday night at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa for their second straight win.

Every offensive player who started for the Rays had a RBI and a run scored as the team piled up 16 hits. The Rays blew this game open early with four runs in the second and nine in the third. On the pitching side, Shane Baz (2-0, 1.42) pitched six innings in which he allowed one earned run on two hits while striking out eleven and walking none.

The Rays will look to build on this win and claim a series against their division rival when they meet in the second game of their three-game series on Tuesday night.
