The Las Vegas Golden Knights (42-20-8) defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning (40-25-5) 4-2 on Sunday night in Las Vegas. The Lightning dropped both games of a back-to-back, having been defeated by the Utah HC 6-4 on Saturday afternoon.
The Lightning fell behind 3-0 in the first period before Nick Paul got the Bolts on the board with a goal late in the second. Nicolas Hague hit an empty-net goal to clinch the game 4-1 at at the 17:18 mark in the third, though Nikita Kucherov did score with five seconds to go in regulation to make it a 4-2 final. For Kucherov, it was his 30th goal of the year and 350th goal of his NHL career.
The Lightning now return home for the next three games beginning with a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday night. Puck drop between Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh is scheduled for 7:00 PM on Tuesday.
