The Tampa Bay Rays (75-78) defeated the Boston Red Sox (76-77) 2-0 on Thursday night at Tropicana Field to win the three-game series between divisional rivals.
Zack Littell (8-9, 3.56) had a spectacular outing for the Rays, pitching seven shutout innings in which he struck out seven while walking none. The Rays offense came from a sacrifice fly from Brandon Lowe in the third and a RBI groundout from Dylan Carlson in the seventh.
