Astros Sweep Rays

The Houston Astros (65-55) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (59-61) 2-1 in ten innings on Wednesday night at Tropicana Field. With the win, the Astros were able to complete a sweep of the three-game series.

Jeremy Pena homered for the Astros in the fifth to give the Astros the lead. The Rays were able to tie the game in the eighth inning when Taylor Walls scored on a fielder's choice ball hit by Yandy Diaz to make the game 1-1.

That would be the score until the tenth inning - in the top of the tenth Maurico Dubon singled to drive in lead runner Pedro Leon from third base. The Rays were unable to do anything in their half of the tenth and the Astros held on for a 2-1 win.

The Rays are now off on Thursday and will host the Diamondbacks for a three-game series beginning on Friday night. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 6:50 PM - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting the Inside Pitch at 5:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
