The Las Vegas Raiders announced the termination of general manager Mike Mayock on Monday (January 17), two days after being eliminated by the Cincinnati Bengals in their AFC Wild Card Round playoff matchup on Saturday (January 15).

"We have relieved Mike Mayock of his duties as General Manager of the Las Vegas Raiders," the team wrote in an official statement shared on their verified Twitter account. "We thank Mike for his contributions over the last three years in helping to form the foundation for the franchise to build upon in its future."

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Raiders were targeting Mayock's replacement before officially notifying him that he wouldn't be retained on Monday.

"The #Raiders made the decision to move on several days ago, but put in a GM request a few minutes ago. Then, Mayock was out," Rapoport tweeted on Monday.

Rapoport reported the Raiders had put in a request to interview New England Patriots director of player personnel Dave Ziegler for the general manager vacancy and Indianapolis Colts executive Ed Dodds for the general manager position prior to the announcement of Mayock's dismissal.

Additionally, the Raiders also put in a request to interview former Pro Bowl linebacker and current Patriots defensive assistant Jerod Mayo for the head coaching job,

Mayock, a former NFL safety, was hired by the Raiders in 2019 after having contributed to NFL Network as a draft analyst and NBC Sports' Notre Dame football coverage as a game analyst.

The Raiders went 25-24 during the past three seasons, with their only playoff appearance resulting in Saturday's 26-19 loss at Cincinnati.
