Trump Administration's "Public Charge Rule" Takes Effect Today

Starting today, low-income immigrants using public benefits will be denied a visa or green card, even if they've entered the U-S legally. The Trump Administration's new "public charge" rule will keep people who make less than 60-thousand-dollars and need food stamps, housing vouchers and Medicaid from getting their paperwork because they would be considered a financial burden to U-S taxpayers. Miami immigration attorney Tammy Fox-Isicoff says the rule is designed to keep everyone out, not just the poor. Immigration advocates predict 44-thousand people in Miami-Dade and Broward will dis-enroll from their health benefits or receiving food stamps out of fear.
