Parkland Commission OKs Final Report

A state commission investigating the Valentines Day massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School last year has signed off on its final report.

But Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri says that's not the end of it.

"Our work is not done, we have a lot to do ahead of us." he said. "This was just the beginning; we all hope it has an impact and that it helps to move the needle where it needs to go."

Gualtieri chaired the Parkland Shooting Commission.

The commission is urging county school boards to embrace the controversial "guardian" program that allows specially-trained employees to have guns at school for self-defense.

Their report is being sent to the Governor-Elect and the new leaders of the Florida Legislature, who will decided what happens next.
