Christmas Tree Tradition Continues at Florida Capital

The halls of the state capitol smell like Cyprus now that Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam has presented the official Florida Christmas tree to the governor.

Putnam says this is one of his favorite jobs."Merry Christmas and happy Holidays, every one!" he said. "This is one of my favorite traditions of the year."

He described this as "yet another opportunity to brag about all things being better that come from Florida, including our Christmas Trees."

This year's official tree is a Carolina Sapphire Cyprus from the Bavarian Christmas Tree Farm of Tallahassee.

It's also a survivor of Hurricane Michael.

For many members of the cabinet, this is the last Christmas Tree installation they'll witness in their current occupations.

Only Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis is returning to his old post.

Every other member of the cabinet, from the governor on, is being replaced by a newly-elected official.
