Daytona Beach Police Arrest Alleged Triple Shooting Suspect

Daytona Beach police say they have arrested a suspect in a multiple shooting.

The arrest came Thursday, according to a release from the Police Office.

Officials say the suspect, identified as Marcus Pinckney, was arrested hours after the shooting, after being located at a hotel in Ormond Beach.

Authorities say he was taken into custody without incident.

According to investigators, Pinckney, a Daytona Beach resident, allegedly shot the three people at the Sun Plaza Hotel in the city, during the early hours of Thursday morning.

Investigators say they believe Pinckney knew the victims and that the incident began with a dispute over what may have been a drug transaction that went bad.

Authorities confirmed that one victim, a man, 57, was pronounced dead at the scene; and the other two shooting victims were hospitalized in stable condition.

Police say Pinckney acted surprised to learn that only one shooting victim had died and the other two were still alive.

According to police, Pinckney faces charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder.
