Environmentalists claim Governor Rick Scott's is trying to "greenwash" his record as he runs for the U-S Senate.
St. Lucie County Commissioner Chris Dzadovsky says Rick Scott gutted the water management districts, eliminated the agency that used to regulate large developments and stopped the Department of Environmental Protection from enforcing water quality standards.
"This has all been just incredibly disheartening and today we're seeing Governor Scott try to take credit for doing good things when the fact is, that, since day one, he's dismantled all the regulatory agencies and helped to create the problems that we have today," he said.
Dzadovsky says the governor's environmental mismanagement is contributing to the toxic algae blooms that threaten rivers and estuaries near Lake Okeechobee.
