Suspect in Home Invasion, Rape Arrested

Authorities say a Casselberry rape suspect is under arrest.

According to investigators, Benjamin Hovan was arrested in Titusville Thursday.

Hovan is accused in a weekend break-in, where he allegedly raped one of two women inside a Casselberry apartment, took both women captive, and stole their car.

Authorities say Hovan told the women to drive to an ATM located at a Publix supermarket, but one of the women was able to get away and tell a Publix employee what was happening.

Investigators say the employee called 911.

Officials say Hovan got nervous waiting for the woman to come back from the ATM, so he forced the other woman out of the vehicle and drove away in it.

Authorities say Hovan is also a suspect in several crimes from Tallahassee into South Miami.

Reports indicate that Hovan's arrest came after a Titusville Police Officer said he had noticed somebody at a convenience store behaving suspiciously, so he checked the license tags of the vehicle the person was driving and learned it was stolen.

Authorities say the police later realized that the man matched the description of the Casselberry suspect.
