Authorities say a resident of Deltona was arrested this week on a charge of first degree murder in a case that had gone cold until recently.
Law enforcement authorities say Christopher Schmidt was arrested Monday night, a few days after the arrest of another suspect.
Officials say the case involved the killings of a woman and child in Virginia Beach, Virginia, in June 2004.
According to case records, police in Virginia Beach say they were called to a residence that June after reports of a shooting.
Officers said, upon arrival, they found the house on fire.
Investigators say the woman and a male child in the home died.
Authorities say the case eventually grew cold.
They say that changed when new information surfaced recently.
That information, according to investigators, led to the arrests of the two suspects.
Authorities say Schmidt was arrested in Florida, and the other suspect was arrested in Indiana.
Investigators say Schmidt was charged with one count of first degree murder, and is awaiting extradition to Virginia.
