Authorities say human remains discovered on a residential property in March are those of a man allegedly missing since 2015.
According to records from the Lake County Sheriff's Office, investigators had gone to the home of Michael Shaver in February, after a friend asked them to do a wellness check on the man.
Investigators say they met with Shaver's wife, who said she had not seen or heard from him since October, 2015.
Deputies say they noticed a concrete slab near a backyard fire pit, and requested permission to bring a cadaver dog to check the area.
Accounts from the deputies say Shaver's wife stopped cooperating at that point and contacted a lawyer.
Incident records show that the deputies returned with a warrant and discovered human bones under the concrete.
Officials say the bones were eventually identified as Shaver's remains.
Investigators say there have been no arrests and the investigation continues.
The attorney hired by Shaver's wife says she is cooperating with the investigation.
