Tourism To Florida Up in Early 2018

The numbers are out for tourism to the Sunshine State in the first quarter of this calendar year, and they're another record.

Tourism officials say an estimated 33.2 million visitors came to Florida in the first months of the year, representing a 7.4 percent increase over the year before.

The tourism outfit Visit Florida says it estimates a record 29.1 million domestic visitors came to Florida during the first quarter of the calender year, marking an 8.5 percent increase over domestic visitors over the same time period last year.

Tourism officials say that, following an effort to increase visibility in Canada, the state saw 1.4 million Canadian visitors to Florida; an increase of 2.5 percent from the first quarter of 2017.

All metrics of tourism saw increases, according to Visit Florida.

Officials say they plan to keep building on the initial success of this year, and set yet another record for tourism.
