Steve Clifford is the new head coach of the Orlando Magic, after a long search to replace Frank Vogel.
That news came from the team Wednesday.
Vogel was let go from the Magic in April of this year.
Clifford had helmed the Charlotte Hornets for five seasons.
Clifford has a reputation as a strong communicator and a defense-minded coach.
And he has a history with Orlando.
From 2007-2012, he was an assistant coach working with former magic head coach Stan Van Gundy.
The owners of the Orlando Magic say they are hopeful that Clifford will turn the fortunes of the team around, as he did when he took over coaching for the Charlotte Hornets.
Clifford was credited with bringing the Hornets back into form after that team, in 2013, had posted the second-worst record for the NBA.
