The Memorial Day holiday weekend is one of the busiest times of the year for drivers in Florida.
This year, it could also one of the most dangerous.
Florida is bracing for wet weather over the holiday weekend and the Highway Patrol is warning drivers to be especially careful.
Captain Thomas Pikul says don't drive if you don't have to.
"If driving is the only option, remember: 'Buckle up and slow down,' " he said. "You want to keep a safe driving distance between vehicles. You don't want to be passing vehicles, changing lanes. Remember that wet pavement can result in skidding and hydroplaning, and we want you to be patient and stay alert while you're out there on the road."
And the FHP also advises that you turn off the cruise control.
Cruise control may be handy, but Pikul says it can be a hazard when you're dealing with wet roads and soggy streets.
