Nearly 8,000 residents of Lake Worth found themselves without power briefly Sunday, but that wasn't the alarming thing about the matter.
According to reports first appearing in the Palm Beach Post, residents received an alert that power was out due to "extreme zombie activity" in the area.
City officials were quick to reassure residents that, while the power outage was real, the message was fake ... and that there were no legions of the undead banging about in Lake Worth and causing power failures.
City representative Ben Kerr confidently posted that the city did not have any zombie activity whatsoever.
Officials said they were going to look into how the bogus alert got into the system.
