Orlando is receiving federal funding to fight terrorism. The city is getting a $1.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Urban Area Security Initiative. It's the most funding the city has received from the program since 2012. Law enforcement agencies can use the funding to buy homeland security equipment, train officers and enhance security in high-profile areas like stadiums and theme parks.
In addition, non-profit groups in the city can apply for security grants from the Department of Homeland Security as well.
