The Florida Highway Patrol wants you to watch out for bikers.
May is "Motorcycle and Bicycle Safety Awareness Month."
Captain Thomas Pikul at the F-H-P says they were involved in thousands of traffic crashes last year in Florida.
"There were nine thousand five hundred and thirty-five motorcycle crashes," he said. "Also, there were six thousand five hundred and twenty-one bicycle crashes in Florida."
Pikul says people on 2 wheels have the same rights and responsibilities as other drivers, so it's all about sharing the road.
Safety officials say Florida has the dubious distinction of being the worst state in the nation for cycling fatalities.
Orlando, Tampa Bay, Jacksonville and Miami are ranked as the most dangerous cities in the country for cyclists, according to data provided by the League of American Bicyclists.
