Authorities in Orlando say a federal criminal complaint has been filed against an Orange County Sheriff's Deputy.
According to federal prosecutors, Kevin Michael Hutchinson allegedly received child pornography.
According to the complaint, Hutchinson initially distributed child pornography via a mobile messaging application.
Investigators say hours before a federal search warrant was executed at his home Thursday, Hutchinson received multiple images and videos of child pornography via the internet.
If convicted, officials say Hutchinson faces a minimum mandatory penalty of 5 years, and up to 20 years, in federal prison.
Records show Hutchinson made his initial appearance in court Friday and has been detained pending the outcome of the case.
A criminal complaint is a formal charge that a defendant has violated one or more of the federal criminal laws, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty.
