The Florida Constitution Revision Commission has okayed a proposition to ban the use of e-cigarettes in public spaces.
Commissioner Lisa Carlton says the state constitution already limits smoking and it should be updated to include vaping.
"Those of us that don't vape have been an experiment," she said. "And I think it's time to clean up our restaurants, our malls, our movie theaters, and our workplaces so that we can all breathe clean air again."
The commission voted to include new limits on public vaping in the list of amendments they'll be placing on the November ballot.
The Constitution Revision Commission adopted Carlton's proposal by a lopsided margin of 26-6. B
ut it won't happen unless 60 percent of the voters approve it in November.
