Brevard County Deputy Arrested

Authorities with the Brevard County Sheriff's Office say a Sheriff's Deputy has lost his job and is facing charges that include child neglect.

According to incident accounts, other deputies had gone to the home of Nick Worthy to investigate reports of gunshots at the home.

Sheriff Wayne Ivey says the responding deputies found grim-looking conditions.

"What was found inside was absolutely disgusting, absolutely deplorable, and quite frankly just unbelievable," he said, during a news conference.

Deputies reportedly found food, firearms, drugs and feces strewn about the home.

Investigators say former deputy Worthy and his live-in girlfriend, identified as Rachel Trexler, have a two year old son.

Officials say the boy is now in the custody of child welfare officials.

Worthy and his girlfriend were jailed Thursday on $5,000 bond, according to Sheriff's Office reports.
