Orlando Police Chief Eyes New Job

Orlando's current police chief says he wants to be Orange County's next sheriff.

Police Chief John Mina filed paperwork this week indicating that he was going to run for sheriff, the post being vacated by the current sheriff, Jerry Demings.

Demings is leaving the job to run for office as the Orange County Mayor.

Mina has been with the Orlando Police Department for 26 years, and has been chief of the department since 2014.

Paperwork indicates that he would be running for the Sheriff's position as an independent.
