Fallen Officers Remembered in Orlando

The city of Orlando paused Tuesday to remember and pay respects to a pair of law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the attempt to apprehend a murder suspect.

Orlando Police Lt Debra Clayton and Orange County Sheriff's deputy Norm Lewis had their memories honored in a series of events that took place at a number of venues and in memorials both public and private.

Clayton was killed in January when she was allegedly shot to death by murder suspect Markeith Loyd.

According to accounts of the episode, Clayton had confronted Loyd in the parking lot of a large retailer.

Loyd had been wanted in connection with the death of his pregnant ex-girlfriend.

Deputy Lewis was reportedly killed in a traffic accident while responding to reports of Clayton's shooting.
