Florida Driver Arrested after 911 Call

Authorities in Polk County say a local man was arrested New Year's Eve after he called 911 to report a suspected drunk driver.

The suspect was reportedly the man making the call.

According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Michael Lester, 39, of Winter Haven, called 911 to report that he was driving drunk "all over Winter Haven."

Records show that, when the dispatcher asked where he was, he replied that he didn't know, though he eventually noted that he was driving the wrong way down a road near a Publix Supermarket.

According to incident accounts, Lester told the dispatcher that he had drunk several beers and swallowed some meth before taking to the road.

The dispatcher reportedly attempted to talk Lester into pulling over, and was able to keep him on the phone until deputies located him.

Investigators say Lester was taken into custody without injury to anybody.

According to the authorities, Lester was found in his vehicle, in the middle of U-S Highway 17 in Winter Haven.
