Infant Is Central Florida's First New Year Arrival

In central Florida, Ava McKenzie Mann has started her life by being somewhat famous.

The infant, born at 12:02 AM, Eastern Time January 1, is the first child of the new year to be born in central Florida.

Ava was born in Florida Hospital for Women in Orlando, to Jasmine Fair.

According to accounts from Fair, she began having labor pains Sunday, and went to the hospital where she was expecting a relatively swift delivery.

Ava, however, was born after 11 hours of labor.

That amount of labor meant that, instead of being one of the last babies to be delivered in 2017, Ava wound up being the first in central Florida to be delivered in 2018.

According to all recent accounts, mother and daughter were doing well.
