Officials with SunRail and the Florida Highway Patrol say the driver of a semi-tractor trailer truck was killed Thursday when a commuter train struck his vehicle.
According to information from SunRail, the incident occurred just before noon Thursday, and involved a northbound train.
Officials say there were 36 passengers and two crew on board, and no injuries to passengers and crew.
Law enforcement officials investigating the crash said the truck was stopped on the train tracks when the accident happened.
The manager of a local business said the truck had backed up to the facility's loading dock.
Officials with the Florida Highway Patrol said the driver had apparently been attempting to drive the truck off the tracks as he saw the train approaching.
According to incident accounts, the driver was not able to move the vehicle, and was attempting to abandon it when the train hit.
