Supporters of the L-G-B-T-Q community, including pastors and corporate lobbyists, are trying again to get the legislature to pass an anti-discrimination bill.
Florida State Senator Darryl Rouson is sponsoring the Florida Competitive Workforce Act, which would prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
"This is nit just a moral issue about treating everyone equally," he said. "It is also an economic issue. It's time for state law to reflect longstanding business practices, and ensure non-discrimination protections for all Floridians."
Rouson has the support of clergy and business lobbyists... and nearly half of the lawmakers signed on as co-sponsors during the session back in the spring.
The bill never got a hearing in the House or the Senate, but Rouson says they'll keep trying.
