Gas Prices Still Falling

Gas prices keep falling in the southeast.

That's the latest news from AAA Auto Club Group, which notes that Florida gas prices dropped another 5 cents during the past week.

AAA analysts say gas prices in Florida are averaging $2.42 per gallon.

Despite the recent downward trend, the state average remains 18 cents higher than pre-Hurricane Harvey levels, according to AAA.

The largest discounts recently were in Melbourne-Titusville, Lakeland-Winter Haven, Jacksonville, Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, and Orlando.

The most expensive gas price averages in Florida are in Miami, West Palm Beach-Boca Raton, and Fort Lauderdale.

The least expensive gas price averages in Florida are in Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Orlando, and Fort Myers-Cape Coral.

Gasoline stocks continue to rise across the nation, as weekly demand declined by 3.6 percent during the week ending October 13, according to the latest report from the Energy Information Administration.

Meanwhile, oil prices gained almost a dollar last week after the EIA reported a 5.7 million barrel decline in oil supply and a 1 million barrel drop in production.

AAA analysts say motorists should expect another round of discounts at the pump this week, though retail prices will still be slightly higher than they would be ordinarily for this time of year.
