The governor is responding to a scathing series of stories in the Miami Herald that paint a bleak picture of life behind bars at the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.
Reporters found guards with criminal records, staffers who gave kids snack foods so they would beat up other kids... and 12 questionable deaths since 2000.
Governor Rick Scott says he's aware of the stories.
"I think it's very important that, whether it's the individual that's taken care of by the DJJ or the employees, that they're safe," he said. "I think that what you always want is you want a system that works well."
The Governor claims he still has confidence in Department of Juvenile Justice Secretary Christy Daly and says she'll hold her people accountable.
