Man arrested for threatening to stab Southwest Florida restaurant employee

Naples, FL - A Southwest Florida man’s been arrested after threatening to stab a restaurant employee with a box cutter.

According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the Chilakil restaurant on Tamiami Trail E in Naples on Friday afternoon after a shirtless man threatened to stab employees with a knife.

Police say Sean Mcmullen, 27, was detained by deputies while sitting at a nearby picnic table.

Mcmullen told deputies he had no idea what was going on, but investigators found a box cutter in his pocket and confiscated it.

Investigators say employees and witnesses told deputies Mcmullen came into the restaurant to use a wall outlet to charge his phone.

Employees told Mcmullen he could charge his phone as long as he bought something, but Mcmullen didn’t buy anything, and continued to charge his phone while hiding a beer he bought from outside the restaurant.

When an employee told Mcmullen he needed to leave, Mcmullen pulled out a box cutter and began waiving it in the air, before telling a customer he was going to stab the employee.

He was arrested and taken to the Naples jail on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
