(Miami, FL) -- Forecasters say it's too soon to tell what Invest 98-L will do and where it will go, once it gets organized later this week.

However, there is growing concern about a potential hurricane threat for the Gulf Coast. The focus is now on a tropical disturbance in the eastern Caribbean Sea that is being given an 80% chance of formation over the next 48 hours.

Some early forecast models have the system gaining hurricane strength and approaching the Gulf Coast during the middle of next week.

Forecasters are also watching a tropical wave off the west coast of Africa. They give it a 60 percent chance of formation over the next 48 hours/ Another low, several hundred miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands, is given a 30 percent chance of development over five days.

Meanwhile, Hurricane Fiona is heading toward Bermuda after battering Puerto Rico.
