Russian hackers get all the headlines these days, but North Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz says he is more concerned about Chinese hackers.
"China is engaging in a systemic and multi-faceted strategy to steal intellectual property," he said. "This is not a case of a few bad actors in the private sector. The majority of Chinese companies that steal or benefit from stolen intellectual property are state-owned."
Theft of intellectual property reportedly costs American businesses 2 million jobs and $225 billion a year.
The administration has ordered an investigation into IP theft by the Chinese and Gaetz says sanctions may be warranted.
He and his colleague, Neal Dunn of Panama City, are on the road trying to drum up public support for these sanctions.
