A teacher has been identified as the victim in a weekend murder-suicide on the Treasure Coast.
The Martin County School District says Anderson Middle reading teacher Amanda Hicks was the woman found dead on Saturday alongside a man with whom she was believed to be romantically involved.
Neighbors at the Peacock Run apartment complex in Port St. Lucie tell CBS 12 News that Hicks had just moved in about three weeks ago.
"We didn't even get time to get to know them because everything happened so fast. My heart's out for the family though. Hopefully they can find peace in all of this."
Police say the man, who has not been identified, shot Hicks and then turned the gun on himself.
A baby was found crying but unhamred in a crib inside the apartment. That was Hicks' daughter and she is now with relatives.
Martin County Schools are out for summer.
