Tropics Getting Active

Forecasters continue to keep an eye on a system in the Atlantic that is likely to develop into a tropical depression in the next few days.

The area of disturbed weather is centered about 900 miles east-southeast of the southern Windward Islands. National Hurricane Center says the system will continue to move to the west across the southern Caribbean by the end of the week, and has a 90% chance to develop over the next 5 days.

The NHC is also watching a second system, to the north and east of the first one. It has just a 20% chance of development.

A third system is in the Gulf of Mexico, and could bring some rain to the Louisiana and Texas coastlines.

None of the systems currently under observation appear to be a threat to Florida.
