Florida hospitals adjust visitation for COVID patients as beds fill

With more than 10-thousand people now hospitalized around the state for COVID-19 hospitals are adjusting their visitation policies. AdventHealth Central Florida is no longer allowing in-person visits for COVID patients at their hospitals in 7 across the region. Virtual visits will be arranged.

"Where we are today we're concerned about what the week ahead is going to look like," AdventHealth's Dr. Neil Finkler said. "Rather than being reactive, we've taken the stance of being proactive to make sure that we keep our staff safe, keep our patients safe and keep our community safe."

Non-COVID patients will be allowed one visitor at a time. Dr. Finkler thinks things will get worse before they get better.

"If this surge is consistent with previous surges, we think that we are probably going to see increased admissions at least for the next week if not two."

Dr. Neil Finkler says they have enough capacity to care for all their patents and they're prepared to convert space into ICU rooms if necessary.
