Special Session Underway In Tallahassee

Lawmakers are back in Tallahassee today to hash out the new gaming compact agreed to by Governor DeSantis and the Seminole Tribe.

The special session is expected to run through the week.

Democratic co-leader Rep. Evan Jenne says two companion bills, one regarding public records exemption ... the other focused on fees for fantasy sports operators, are potential hurdles in getting the compact passed.

Another roadblock? In 2018 an amendment was approved that gives Floridians the authority to expand gambling through statewide referendums.

If approved, the state could receive at least $500-million per year over the next five while the Tribe would have control over sports betting across Florida.
