Closing Arguments Set in Markeith Loyd Trial

Closing arguments will be made Wednesday in the murder trial of Markeith Loyd.

The 44-year-old Orlando man is on trial for the shooting death of his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Sade Dixon.

For the second day in a row, Loyd was on the witness stand Tuesday testifying in his own defense.

Loyd said that he feared for his safety when he shot Dixon, telling the prosecutor that Dixon never said she wouldn't shoot him first.

Loyd could get the death penalty for the 2016 murder, if he is found guilty.

In the spring, Loyd will go on trial for the shooting death of Orlando Police Lt. Debra Clayton. Prosecutors say Loyd killed Clayton while on the run following the murder of Sade Dixon.
