New Express Lanes On I-95 Won't Cost Money Until 2024

Express lanes planned for a portion of Palm Beach County will not take effect until at least the year 2024.

The Florida Department of Transportation is extending those pay lanes along I-95 from northern Broward into southern Palm Beach and they're doing it in stages.

There will eventually be express lanes all the way north to Linton Boulevard in Delray Beach, but as specific segments are finished, they will be opened to traffic at no charge. That is, until the entire stretch is ready.

The last stretch of construction will be from Glades Road to Linton and that isn't slated to finish until at least 2024.

F-Dot says that once the entire project is finished, drivers should be able to maintain a speed of 40 to 50 miles per hour in those express lanes, even during rush hour, from Miami to Delray.
