Grenade Found at Historic Don Cesar Hotel Turns Out to be Inert

ST. PETE BEACH -- All clear at the beach, but deputies are investigating after a "training grenade" was found at the historic Don Cesar resort.

Deputies were called around 11:30 Friday to investigate after someone found what appeared to be a grenade in the bushes on the east side of the property.

The Hillsborough-Tampa bomb squad examined the device and found it to be inert.

A street in front of the resort was briefly shut down, but there were no evacuations during the callout.
