The lead singer of one of the premiere 1960s "girl groups" has died. Mary Weiss was the lone member of the Shangri-Las who stayed with the group during their entire run. They're best known for the teen anthem and number one 1964 smash "Leader of the Pack." At their peak, the Shangri-Las performed with the likes of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Weiss's death was confirmed to Variety by Norton Records, but the cause of death was not provided. Mary Weiss was 75.

Fans of Godzilla will soon be able to see the latest Japanese film in the franchise in a different way. "Godzilla Minus One/Minus Color" will hit theaters on Friday. It will be a remastered black-and-white version of the surprise box office hit. Since it's release last month, the film has brought in almost 51-million dollarsat the U.S. box office. "Godzilla Minus One/Minus Color" will only be in theaters until February 1st.
Vendors at yesterday's game in Buffalo where the Bills hosted the Kansas City Chiefs were offering fans Taylor Swift-themed food. In case you just crawled out from under a rock and haven't hears, the pop megastar is dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and has been cheering him on at games this season, including yesterday. The Bills and their food service partner at Highmark Stadium offered two items named after hit Taylor Swift songs: Bad Blood Waffle Fries and the Karma Quesadilla.
George "Dr. Funkenstein" Clinton is the latest entertainer to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The leader of Parliament Funkadelic, his star is located at 6552 Hollywood Boulevard in front of the Musicians Institute. During Friday's ceremony, Clinton said it was an honor to receive a star alongside '"the many notables from the word of entertainment."
Classic rock, hip-hop, pop and country are all represented in the 2024 class of the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The Class of 2024 includes Steely Dan, REM and Timbaland. Also named was the writer of "Jesus Take the Wheel, " Hillary Lindsey, along Dean Pitchford, who wrote "Let's Hear it for the Boy" and "Footloose." Nominees who were not selected include Kenny Loggins, along with Tracy Chapman and The Doobie Brothers. The induction ceremony will be held in New York City on June 13th.
Under a new bill proposed in the Oklahoma legislature, kids dressed up as animals could be removed from that state's public schools by animal control. It takes aim at a subculture called "Furries." They are people who wear costumes and act like cats and dogs. The legislation would prevent anyone wearing animal outfits from participating in school curriculum or activities. Similar bills have been tried and failed. But this is the first measure to include the "animal control" provision.
