We've lost another great voice of rock and roll. Denny Laine co-founded the legendary British band The Moody Blues and, in 1964, sang lead on their first big hit: "Go Now". Laine left the Moodys in 1967 and later joined Paul McCartney in forming Wings in 1971. He played with Wings for a decade on hits like "Band on the Run" and "Jet." Laine released several solo albums following his time in Wings. His wife announced on social media that he had died after a battle with lung disease. Denny Laine was 79.

A new theory suggests that today's earthquakes may actually be aftershocks of quakes that struck in the 19th century. According to a study by researchers with the US Geological Survey, seismic activity today can be traced back to earthquakes in the 1800s, even though there were no seismographs back then. The researchers say there are plenty of written accounts of where quakes struck and how strong they felt. They say that understanding earthquakes from two hundred or more years ago will help us prepare for large earthquakes to come.

Last week on Elsewhere, we told you that one of the most common slang words of 2023 is "yeet," which means to violently throw something, or an exclamation of excitement, approval or surprise. Recently, "yeet" has been adopted as a catchphrase by WWE Superstar Jey Uso. But it turns out that somebody had trademarked "yeet" and the WWE has reportedly decided to sever its association with the term and related merchandise. Going forward, Jey Uso is prohibited from uttering the word or wearing his "yeet" shirt. On Monday Night Raw, Uso didn't use it and WWE blurred out references to it in their video packages. But that didn't stop the crowd, which continued to shout "yeet" during Uso's segments.

It was back in 1964, that Dionne Warwick sang the hit "Walk On By." And now, in 2023, an artist named Doja Cat is sampling "Walk On By" for her song, "Paint The Town Red."
