We'll talk about the House of Representatives ousting Speaker Kevin McCarthy in a vote driven by Florida conservative Republican Matt Gaetz! This is the first time in history that a Speaker has been thrown out of office. I'm no big fan of McCarthy, but I'll tell you why I think his ouster is not deserved and that this sets a terrible precedent!
At 7:42 we'll be joined by Newsradio WFLA White House Correspondent Jon Decker with his perspectives from the nation's capitol on this landmark political event!
I'll have the latest for you on the second day of former President Trump's civil trial in New York City in which he has already been declared guilty of financial fraud and is threatened with no longer being able to do business in New York. I'll also tell you why Trump has just been gagged by the judge!
Locally, let's talk about the 11-year-old in Apopka facing serious charges for allegedly shooting two 13 year olds following a trivial argument at a Pop Warner football team practice. My question isn't whether he's guilty and what penalty he should face, but how do you explain why we continue to see people in Florida and across the country turning to deadly weapons to deal with disagreements that should never escalate to this level ?!

I'm going to play some sound from Sunday's 60 Minutes show in which Biden's Attorney General Merrick Garland makes an emotional plea for Americans to forsake political violence as a means of furthering their political agenda. Here's a link to what Garland said. Please listen, and let me know whether you think he's right, or wrong. My take on this may surprise you, so be sure to join us and let me know whether you think I'm on the money, or off the rails!
Finally, I'll tell you about my vacation last week in which I spent time with dear friends who date all the way back to my college years singing with the Vintage Colgate 13 a cappella group. The music, as always, was just incredible, but what I want to share with you is how this wonderful fellowship, which has endured for decades, is only possible because long ago we declared all of our reunions to be "Politics Free Zones"! That decision to never discuss politics has made all the difference in enabling friendships to develop and flourish, and I cherish this more than I can adequately express. That said, I'm saddened that our political divisions in this country have become so intense that political debates can destroy relationships!
And, I'll also tell you a bit about my approaching retirement, just announced today by the management of iHeartradio Orlando. This is my decision, as I'll explain, but it definitely has left me with some mixed emotions, because soon I won't be meeting you here on our "50,000 Watt Front Porch" on Newsradio WFLA.
