A heretofore largely unknown singer-songwriter is making Billboard chart history with a viral hit. Oliver Anthony's "Rich Men North of Richmond" has debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He is the first artist to earn the top spot with no prior chart history in any form. A video of Anthony performing "Rich Men" in the woods has racked up 30 million views on YouTube. The song was streamed 17-and-a-half million times and sold 147-thousand downloads during the week ending August 17th. "

More than three-thousand movie theaters across the country will offer discounted tickets this Sunday. In honor of National Cinema Day, all movies in all formats will cost less than four-dollars. That even includes "Oppenheimer" in Imax if showtimes aren't already sold out. This marks the second-annual National Cinema Day, hosted by the Cinema Foundation. Last year's event was the most-attended day at the movies in 2022.

An animal you'd be more likely to find in Australia was rescued from the Coney Island Boardwalk in New York last week. The NYPD responded to reports of a person strolling down the boardwalk with a wallaby, which is part of the kangaroo family, but smaller. When officers arrived, they found the exotic animal with it's presumed owner. A sight to see for New Yorkers, but wallabies are illegal to own in most states including New York. The animal was taken to the Animal Care Center of New York City. It's owner received a summons for possession of a wild marsupial.

A Beatles cover is the latest in Dolly Parton's build-up to her forthcoming "Rockstar" album. Dolly gets "a little help from her friends" on "Let it Be," including a pair of former Beatles. Paul McCartney contributes backing vocals and plays piano, while Ringo Starr is on the drums. The track also features Mick Fleetwood on percussion and Peter Frampton on guitar. The 30-track album, which Parton calls her "first rock-and-roll" album, is scheduled for a November 17th release.

It seems a certain rocker may be over his feud with beer maker Anheuser-Busch. TMZ has posted photos that appear to show Kid Rock drinking a Bud Light at Nashville's Skydeck last Thursday night. Back in April, Kid Rock posted a video of himself shooting at cases of Bud Light in protest of the brand's decision to partner with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. That video and other responses led to an Anheuser-Busch boycott among many anti-trans supporters. The backlash ended up costing the company nearly four-hundred-million dollars in estimated U.S. sales.

When the iPhone 15 launches in the coming weeks, it will likely have a feature no iPhone has had in more than ten years: a generic charging port. The proprietary Lightning Port that iPhone users have become accustomed to since its launch in 2012, will be replaced with the same USB-C connector that most other types of phones are equipped with. Now no more scrambling for an iPhone charging cable at a friend's house where only Android is used.
