BUD'S BLOG, MARCH 27th, 2023
Former President Donald Trump formally kicked off his 2024 presidential campaign Saturday with a big rally in Waco, Texas, during which he predictably kicked Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for daring to consider challenging him for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024! I'll tell you what went on at the rally, let you hear a couple of the key moments, and we'll also have the latest for you on the prospects of Trump being indicted by a Manhattan, NY grand jury. In addition we'll talk about Trump warning of violence if he's indicted by District Attorney Alvin Bragg, and the package of white powder mailed to Bragg, apparently from Orlando, which was accompanied by a death threat against Bragg!
I can support many of the policies Trump put in place when he was President, which this country desperately needs now, but I cannot support Trump ratcheting up his rhetoric and warning of death and destruction if he's indicted....can you? Let's talk!
As I'll explain, universal school choice is coming soon throughout Florida, now that the state legislature has approved a bold and expensive program that will make scholarships available to any parent who wants to send their kids to a different school from the one they're attending now. We'll debate whether this new legislation, which I fully expect Governor DeSantis to sign into law, is good news or bad news for the quality of education. This is a complex question, and we look forward to sharing our team's opinions, and listening to what you have to say. I have a serious case of mixed emotions over Governor DeSantis quietly signing into law a bill that will make it harder for Floridians to successfully sue businesses and insurance companies.
The bill shields businesses from lawsuits blamed for driving up insurance costs. However, opponents say the reforms make it harder for injured people to get compensated, and I think they have a valid point! Here's a link to help you better understand this new legislation that has already taken effect, and how it is likely to affect us all.
It's Open Mind Monday, and your chance to sound off on the topic of your choice while we all listen to what you say and keep an open mind! Don't miss this chance to be heard far and wide from our "50,000 Watt Front Porch!".
