BUD'S BLOG, THURSDAY, JANUARY 19th 2023
Today, (Thursday 1/19) is the day the U.S. federal government hits it's spending limit! America is more than $31 trillion dollars in debt, an all-time record that should alarm everyone but seems to alarm almost no one! The stage is set for a high stakes showdown between the House Republicans who want to put the brakes on the insane levels of government growth and spending, and President Biden and the Democrats who want to step on the gas and spend even more! We'll hear from the key players on both sides of the debt limit debate, and we'll talk about what needs to be done to put our country's dead busted broke fiscal house in order!

We'll talk about the city of Orlando's latest plans to make the late night downtown bar scene safer than it's been and to cut down on the gun violence. While I appreciate the efforts by city officials and the bar owners, I'm not sure they're on the right track, as I'll explain. And, as always, we'll ask you to join the conversation and tell us whether the city's latest plans for downtown will work or not!
Governor DeSantis wants a permanent ban on all COVID related mask and vaccine mandates. Is this the right call or the wrong call for Florida? I love the Gov., and know he's doing this in the interest of giving Floridians the freedom to make their own decisions on whether or not to mask up and get the vaccines. However, I'm uncomfortable with government being in a position to tell private businesses or school systems that they can't require masks or vaccines if they have determined that it's necessary in order to stay in business or keep their local schools open! Let us know what you think!
What is justice in the case of a father whose 4 year old son was seen walking around an apartment complex with a loaded gun he reportedly got from his dad's desk drawer? Should the father go to prison? If so, for how long? We'll have the debate, right here on the "50,000 Watt Front Porch" !
