Dan McCafferty, the longtime frontman for the band Nazareth, has died. News of his passing was shared on Facebook by his friend Pete Agnew saying the world has lost one of the greatest singers who ever lived. McCafferty co-founded Nazareth in Scotland, along with Agnew, guitarist Manny Charlton and drummer Darrell Sweet in 1968. Their biggest hits came in 1975: "Love Hurts" and "Hair of the Dog." A new trailer is being released for Netflix's highly anticipated "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery." Daniel Craig returns as detective Benoit [[ Ben-wah ]] Blanc, who must solve another murder mystery. The star studded cast includes Edward Norton, Janelle Monae, Kathryn Hahn, Kate Hudson and Dave Bautista. The film will be available for one week in theaters starting on November 23rd. "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery" will start streaming December 23rd on Netflix.
A Northern California man is blaming a meteor for destroying his home. He says it went up in flames Friday night after he heard a big bang. It happened on a cattle ranch in a secluded area of Nevada County, California. Several witnesses describe a bright ball of light falling from the sky. NASA says the southern Taurids meteor showers were expected to peak Saturday. The fire department expects to know the cause of the fire in two weeks.
Jeff Cook, one of the co-founders of the country band Alabama, has died. Cook died on Monday at his home in Destin, according to a representative for the group. Cook is a member of both the Country Music Hall of Fame and Fiddlers Hall of Fame. Alabama won two Grammy's and has sold over 80-million albums. Jeff Cook was 73.
Saks Fifth Avenue is teaming up with Elton John's Aids Foundation and the foundation's Rocket Fund for this year's holiday windows. The iconic department store is unveiling the windows in New York City on November 22nd. It also includes the debut of this year's light show, which will incorporate Elton John's music. Saks will donate one-million dollars to The Rocket Fund, which supports the most vulnerable living with, or at risk of, HIV Aids around the world.
It turns out that LSU football fans can make the earth move under their feet. During the Tigers' 32 to 31 overtime victory over Alabama on Saturday, an on-campus seismograph at LSU's College of Science registered seismic activity not once, but twice. Both tremors occurred during the overtime period. Darrell Henry, chair of the Department of Geology and Physics at LSU, reported on Monday that they had been able to match the seismic signals with videos people had taken of the game.
