Deep Freeze is Coming for FLORIDA!

When it comes to race, what do you think should and should not be taught in Florida's public schools? That's the focus of a raging debate in the Florida Legislature, triggered by Governor DeSantis' demand that Critical Race Theory, CRT, be permanently outlawed in schools. But legislation in the House (HB 7) goes beyond CRT and would prohibit the teaching of anything racial in nature that would make students feel uncomfortable or guilty about their own race. We'll talk about whether this bill should become law or not. Join the conversation at 407 916 5400 or text us at 23680 !

Miya's Law is being watered down in the Florida Legislature. I don't get it, and I don't like it! Miya's law is named for 19-year-old Miya Marcano who was murdered in her Orlando apartment last year, by a maintenance man with a criminal record and access to her apartment with a master key. The Miya's Law legislation included a number of measures I think would have made apartment living safer throughout Florida, but some of those protections have been dropped from the bill. We'll talk about the changes and what's behind them.
