"Sudden and reckless!" That's what Florida Governor Ron DeSantis thinks about the FDA's decision to revoke access two the two most widely used monoclonal antibody treatments for COVID-19. All the treatment sites have been shut down in Florida. DeSantis says it's just wrong to deny people access to these therapies which he says have been helping people cope with the virus, even though the government claims they are ineffective against the Omicron variant. We'll talk about whether this is the right or wrong call by the Biden administration, and what's behind this decision. By the way, I'm with the Governor on this. If a COVID patient believes in these treatments, it ought to be their choice to have them...not the government's right to deny them that choice. Do you agree?
What would it take for you to switch careers and become a cop here in Florida? Would a $5,000 dollar signing bonus do it? How about a scholarship to attend the Law Enforcement Academy? We'll tell you about plans by the Florida Legislature and Governor DeSantis to sweeten the pot and attract more Floridians to careers in police work.
As I predicted, Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings is back again, trying to drum up support for a penny on the dollar hike in the Orange County sales tax. Demings wants the money to fund expanded Sunrail train and Lynx bus service and for various road projects. Mayor Demings dropped his sales tax hike scheme when the COVID-19 pandemic first hit, and I think he'd better drop it now, if he wants to get re-elected! Would you vote for the sales tax hike? That's the big question our GMO team will debate, and, as always, we invite you to join the conversation!

Volusia County has once again been given the unwanted title of "Shark bite capitol of Florida and the world" ! I love the beach, especially New Smyrna Beach where my family and I have hung out and ridden the waves ever since we first moved to Central Florida in the mid-80's. However, in recent years, some members of my own family, and many other folks have gotten increasingly concerned about going into the water, fearing they'll get bitten by a shark! Never fear, the Budman has an idea about how to allay those shark bite fears and make a lot more beachgoers comfortable going for a swim. What's the plan? Join me on the "50,000 Watt Front Porch" and I'll tell you. Then, you and my colleagues on "Good Morning Orlando" can tell me whether they think I'm onto something...or all wet!
